Dow Jones News Fund honors CHS media teacher

Media teacher and Cleveland Publications adviser Teresa Scribner was named a 2016 Rising Star by the Journalism Education Association.

PRINCETON, N.J. – The Dow Jones News Fund announced Teresa Scribner of Cleveland High School as a 2016 Dow Jones News Fund Special Recognition Adviser.

Scribner is entering her fifth year as a media teacher at Cleveland. After a 17-year career as a visual journalist at The Seattle Times and other newspapers around the country, she now advises The Cleveland Journal newspaper, yearbook and a news broadcast and teaches Journalism Writing, Graphic Arts and Multimedia.

Scribner was also named the 2016 Washington State Journalism Adviser of the Year by the WJEA and is a recipient of the 2016 Rising Star Award by JEA.

The awards will be presented at the JEA/NSPA Fall National High School Journalism Convention in Indianapolis on November 12.

The National High School Journalism Teacher of the Year Awards program is sponsored by the Dow Jones News Fund, Columbia Scholastic Press Association, Poynter Institute for Media Studies and The Wall Street Journal.
