The Lady Eagles advanced to the semi-finals of the State Tournament, beating Wilson 53-50. The girls played a sluggish first half, making only one field goal in the first 7 minutes of the game. Most of their first half points came from free throws. But a second-half rally by Jayde Christopher gave the Lady Eagles a spark. After some back and forth scoring, Cleveland was able to seal the game on free throws by Myla Hightower.

Christopher finished the game with 16 points and 4 assists. Aqeelah Williams added 14, while Joyce Harrell and Teja Kirby both had 9.

Cleveland will go head-to-head with last year’s finals foe, Bishop Blanchet. The Braves beat Cleveland on Feb. 23, so it’ll be redemption day for the Lady Eagles.

Tipoff is at 3:45. The school WILL NOT be providing a rooter bus so all transportation will have to be arranged by students.
