Jayde Christopher holds up the state title trophy. The Lady Eagles won back-to-back titles.

New team; same outcome. That was a big statement made by senior Myzhanique Ladd at the start of the Lady Eagles’ basketball season. The team started the year with high expectations: win another state title. The team was led by Coach Stephenie Wheeler-Smith and seniors Makala Roper, Alexi Mefi, Asiyah Davis and Ladd, who were dubbed the “Fab 4.” The girls left their mark in CHS athletics history by going undefeated in Cleveland’s gym and hold a 53-game winning streak against in-state opponents.

In the championship game, Cleveland battled Metro League opponent Bishop Blanchet, winning 54-45. Roper was named Tournament MVP for a second consecutive season. She, along with Davis and Ladd, had a combined total of 35 points, capping off their unforgettable careers at Cleveland.
